“When life blesses you financially… raise your standard of giving and not your standard of living”

My little blue chair.

Sometime in October 2020, a day or two after Charlie and I got engaged, he came home with a gift, the very first gift he ever gave me for that matter, it was this plastic, blue, toddler chair. He said, “so that you are always around me, no excuse.”

Henceforward, Charlie would constantly pull that chair so I can comfortably sit near him to listen, converse, plan, argue, sing, debate among other things in the bathroom, dressing room, garage, kitchen, office, while sitting in my little blue chair.

We planned our betrothal, weddings, birthdays, his political career, his projects, our future and also, our charitable pursuits while I slouched in that portable piece.

Our commitment to charities was also affirmed in one of our ‘chair sessions’. And while circumstances have changed, I vow to honor all our obligations and even more.

Charlie and I tried our best to live in the wisdom that “when life blesses you financially… raise your standard of giving and not your standard of living”, the Little Blue Chair initiative with God’s grace and Charlie’s legacy is an avenue to continue raising this standard of giving.
